Ministerial meeting
EU-New Zealand ministerial troika meeting
Two ministerial meetings between the EU and New Zealand are held each year within the framework of the Joint Declaration on relations between the European Union and New Zealand. The agenda includes current foreign policy issues.
In 1999, the EU and New Zealand adopted a Joint Declaration on political and economic cooperation. An updated version of the Declaration was completed and signed in September 2007 (Joint Declaration on relations and cooperation).
This Declaration is the basis of the EU’s relations with New Zealand and includes cooperation in a number of areas, such as foreign and security policy, environment and climate issues, global economic issues, non-proliferation and human rights.
Meetings are held twice a year at ministerial level to follow up and implement the agreement and to further cooperation between the EU and New Zealand.
