The Prime Minister states in his invitation that there will be opportunities to discuss all issues that are expected to be intensely debated at the G20 summit, which is to take place in a couple of weeks. The G20 is a group comprising nineteen large economies and the EU.

The invitation states that discussions during the dinner will address “in particular the signs of economic recovery, the design of future exit strategies, future growth models, the implementation of the finance market reforms including remuneration practices in banks, employment, the strengthening and reform of IFIs, global trade and the assistance to the developing countries and the fight against climate change”.
The exit strategies mentioned refer to the phasing out of stimulus measures.

In the invitation the Prime Minister proposes that Gordon Brown, in the UK’s capacity as G20 Chair, holds a briefing on the latest developments. The President of the Commission will also be given the opportunity to talk about the communication on the financing of climate change.

As the meeting is informal, no conclusions will be published. Fredrik Reinfeldt will, however, prepare a text that will become the EU’s common position in Pittsburgh.
