Accreditation and workstations

Work stations for the press together with accreditation are located in premises opposite the entrance to Quality Spa (signposted).

Workstations and access to wired and wireless networks, ISDN, printer, telephones and copying facilities are all available here. Sandwiches, coffee, tea, water and fruit will be served.

Meals

Lunch and dinner for members of the press will be served in the media restaurant with entrance from the lobby at the Quality Spa & Resort Hotel.

Exhibitions and information material

During the meetings, an exhibition on biodiversity and ecosystem services, including a touchpool of Kosterhavet will be shown in the lobby of the meeting venue. Information material on the key issues being discussed at the meetings is available in the press centre.

Young reporters

Forty young reporters will be covering the Swedish Presidency. They are first or second year upper secondary school students. They will mainly cover the informal ministerial meetings but will also report from other EU meetings and various information activities. The reporters will write, photograph and film under the same conditions as other journalists and photographers. The results of their monitoring can be followed at

  • Transportation for Ministers to Strömstad in the company of His Majesty the King on the reconstructed 18th century Swedish Ship Götheborg, sandwiches are served.
    Transportation by boat for officials and experts and CBD Bureau Members to Strömstad, sandwiches are served. 
    Members of the press can (are invited to) go with the boats leaving from the harbour in central Strömstad

Other meetings on biodiversity during the week

  • The members of the COP Bureau, preparing the 2010 global summit on biodiversity, will hold a separate meeting in Strömstad on September 9–10 to discuss the implementation of the work programme of the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD). For more information about the COP Bureau and the 2010 global summit, please visit www.cbd.int. 
  • European National Parks have contributed to the managing of biodiversity over the last 100 years and are facing climate change challenges in the future. The Europarc conference, taking place in Strömstad on September 9–13, will focus on how to use adaptation, benefits and values, and networks to create successful nature conservation and management. The programme of the Europarc conference is available at www.europarc.org.
  • The Swedish National Scientific Council on Biological Diversity is organising an international scientific workshop at The Sven Loven centre for Marine Sciences in Strömstad on 4–6 September. The outcome from the workshop will be communicated to the high-level meeting.
