The day the wall fell…00:00

“It was a fantastic experience. I remember the fall of the Berlin Wall very well. On that very evening my wife and I were invited to dinner at my colleague’s, the Danish Consul-General’s, house. While waiting for the taxi we turned on the TV”, Ingemar Stjenberg, who was Swedish Consul-General in West Berlin at the time of the fall of the wall, recounts. On Monday it was twenty years to the day that the Berlin Wall fell, on 9 November 1989, and the border between East and West Berlin was opened.
